History
HSI is a privately owned vending company. We began in the PBX and long distance industry, but as revenues declined due to the use of cell phones, we diversified by installing air-vacuum machines. Because we were already serving the convenience store industry, it was a seamless transition.
We looked into the air-vac business earlier, but the technology to monitor the equipment was nonexistent until just a few years ago. Without the ability to remotely monitor our machines, we opted to defer entering into the air-vac industry. However, when the technology became available, we jumped onboard. In just a few years, HSI has become the leading provider of this service technology.
We have been in the payphone business since 1993. HSI began with one phone on the Mississippi Coast and has expanded to approximately 5,200 units. We still cover a very large area, spanning anywhere from the Great Lakes of Michigan down to the Florida Keys; we even have phones in the U.S. Virgin Islands. We feel we have been very successful in the payphone business, serving customers such as Ford Motor Company, Circle K, Tom Thumb, Kroger, The Pantry and Sunoco, as well as many others.
We currently have over 1,000 air-water-vacuum units in the ground. We have only been building our routes for four years, but with the experience of a successful payphone business to build on, we know our air and vacuum program will carry us into the future. We are a company that combines excellent customer service with technology to raise the bar high above our competition. With the ability to monitor the equipment and the network of people we have in place, our potential to service any area in the continental United States is virtually unlimited.
We custom build all of our equipment, and as mentioned earlier, we monitor every single machine that is installed. The data that comes from the circuit board proves to be very beneficial. It allows our operations department to view daily revenue as well as the number of air and vac vends. It also detects and reports power failures, coin jams, etc. We can adjust the rates and timers remotely, so although we are in a different location, we know everything that goes on with our machines. On any given day we know exactly how much money is in every machine, even after a collection. This helps us to control cash box shrinkage.
Most importantly, this new technology enables us to know when a machine is broken. We have seen competitor’s machines stay broken for weeks at a time, simply because they did not know the machine was out-of-service. With HSI, that doesn’t happen; we guarantee you won’t be out-of-order for long!
HSI added another branch to its tree in August 2007: HSI Prepaid Solutions. With that same enthusiasm for quality and a strong relationship with our existing customers, HSI began marketing a line of Pre-Paid Sweepstakes Phone Cards. Our line has grown from four brands to over 15, including a “scratch off” and a 50¢ ticket. HSI can customize cards to meet your specifications, or you can purchase one of our existing brands. With over 150 retail locations and eight distributors, we are confident we will become the number one Sweepstakes provider in the U.S.
